Discover, through music, stories buried deep within the Warsaw Ghetto.

From 1939 to 1943, a team of historians, social workers, writers, and rabbis led by Dr. Emanuel Ringelblum chronicled life in the Warsaw Ghetto, the largest of all the Jewish ghettos in German-occupied Europe during the Second World War. By archiving thousands of interviews, drawings, poetry, diaries and posters, they created the Ringelblum Archive – a permanent record of the horrors committed against Polish Jews by Nazi Germany.

Winnipeg composer David Scott will perform contemporary classical music inspired by the extraordinary experiences encapsulated in the Ringelblum Archive.

Scott’s performance will be followed by Eddy’s Story by Sid Robinovitch, which recounts the life of Toronto-based Holocaust survivor, Eddy Sterk.

The Museum is proud to partner with the Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada, the Azrieli Foundation and the Freeman Family Holocaust Education Centre, as well as composers David Scott and Sid Robinovitch, to present Songs from the Ringelblum Archive.

Performers include Madeline Hildebrand piano, Micah Heilbrunn clarinet, Elation Pauls violin, Emma Quakenbush cello, and Sarah Kirsch soprano.
