LIVING ROOM LIVE - THE STORY OF BABAR

Manitoba’s Living Room Live Series is living up to its name! In lieu of the cancelled spring and summer tours, you’re invited to their Wednesday evening concerts via livestream. Madeline is excited to present Poulenc's L'Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant, a piece which she is playing and narrating at the same time!

During the summer of 1940, Francis Poulenc stayed with cousins in France. The children of the house, bored by his piano playing, put the book Histoire de Babar by Jean de Brunhoff on his piano and asked him to "play" the story. Poulenc obliged and freely improvised around the narrative situations that were proposed to him. The story begins with Babar as a youngster through to his marriage and adult life. Perfectly charming, the program is tailored for families and little ones! A perfect bedtime story perhaps?
